Oatmeal instead of bread crumbs

Use oatmeal instead of bread crumbs as an extender in meatloaf and meatballs.  Bread crumbs soak up the fat; oatmeal allows the fat to drain off.

Oatmeal is a whole food and great for you.  If you do choose to use bread crumbs when cooking, make your own from a bread lower in sugar, sodium and bad oils.

Using 93% or leaner ground beef also helps and is a healthy choice.

When making rice krispie bars or anything with marshmallows – 1 - 10 ounce bag is about 40 regular marshmallows or 4 cups of miniature marshmallows or a 7 ounce jar of marshmallow creme.

Also 1 regular marshmallow is equal to 10 miniature marshmallows.

When baking bread if you want a crusty crust, rub the top of the bread with crisco before it goes in the oven, and for a softer crust grease the top with crisco after it comes out of the oven.  I usually prefer to grease it when it comes out of the oven.
