Sprinkling chicken with lemon pepper is a very easy way to enjoy tasty lean chicken.  It adds some zest and doesn't add a lot of calories.  But lemon pepper is high in sodium you say?

To put the sodium in perspective, a 1/4 tsp of lemon pepper contains 80mg of sodium.  You can probably get about 1/4 tsp from sprinkling both sides of the chicken, I'd estimate a hair less.  That 80mg is 3% of your maximum daily RDA of sodium.  You'd have to eat 33 chicken breasts sprinkled with lemon pepper to be over the RDA for the day.

Still not convinced?  Here are some sodium comparisons:

Sprinkling chicken w/ lemon pepper - 80mg

2 pieces of bread - 260mg

1 pancake made w/ Bisquick - 300mg

1 unsalted egg - 62mg

1 tbsp coffee creamer - 30mg

1/4 lb cheeseburger - 1250mg

8 oz prime rib - 1018mg

1/3 box of mac and cheese - 564mg

1 piece of cheese - 130mg

Small McDonalds latte - 150mg

1 tsp salt (for recipes) - 2325mg

Too much sodium is bad, but lemon pepper is small potatoes when looking at about anything else.  It adds a lot of flavor to food and can you help you enjoy leaner, tastier options quite easily.
