Use oatmeal instead of bread crumbs as an extender in meatloaf and meatballs.  Bread crumbs soak up the fat; oatmeal allows the fat to drain off.

Oatmeal is a whole food and great for you.  If you do choose to use bread crumbs when cooking, make your own from a bread lower in sugar, sodium and bad oils.


Using 93% or leaner ground beef also helps and is a healthy choice.
