  • 1 bunch (1-1 1/2 lbs.) fresh asparagus (either whole or cut diagonally into 2\" pieces, either way discard white end pieces)
  • 1 TBSP canola or peanut oil
  • 1 TBSP chopped ginger (fresh or pickled)
  • 2 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • 1 TBSP soy sauce
  • 1/4 tsp crushed red-pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
Methods/steps
  1. Place asparagus in a large skillet and cover with water.
  2. Bring water to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes, or until crisp-tender.
  3. Drain skillet of water while keeping asparagus in skillet.
  4. Over low-medium heat, add canola oil and stir to coat asparagus.
  5. Stir in ginger, garlic, soy sauce, and red-pepper flakes and cook until heated through, about 2 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat and stir in sesame oil and sesame seeds.
  7. Serve immediately.
