Description Many of us have to restrict our salt intake but do not want to sacrifice flavor. So while we do what the doctor ordered by avoiding salt, why not also improve the overall flavor of our foods? Many dried herbs are rich in antioxidants, according to The World\'s Healthiest Foods. These include oregano, dill, thyme, rosemary and coriander.

Spice Blends
  • 1 tsp. each of various dried herbs and spices, such as oregano, thyme and rosemary
  • 1 tbsp. garlic powder
  • 1 tsp. black pepper
  • 1 tsp. onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground mace
  • 1/2 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • Airtight container
Methods/steps
  1. In small bowl, combine all spices. The ground onion, ground garlic and black pepper form a base from which to experiment with different herb mixes. You can leave out the onion and garlic if you often use fresh onion and garlic in your recipes.
  2. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Scoop into airtight container and seal. This mix can be used to season just about anything savory
Additional Tips
Spices stored in cool dark places have a longer shelf life. Experiment with variations, and you will soon find that you miss salt less and less. Read more: How to Make a Salt-free All Purpose Seasoning | eHow.com http://www.ehow.com/how_4535102_saltfree-all-purpose-seasoning.html#ixzz1zIcZJJdk
