  • 3 pounds beef round steak, 1/2 inch thick, cut into serving pieces
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 2 teaspoons dry mustard
  • 1/4 cup oil
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/8 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Mushroom, optional
Methods/steps
  1. Combine flour, dry mustard, 1 1/2 teaspoons salt and 1/8 teaspoon pepper; use to coat meat.
  2. Reserve remaining mixture.
  3. In skillet, brown meat, half at a time, on both sides in hot oil.
  4. Push meat to one side, stir in reserved flour.
  5. Combine 1/2 cup water and Worcestershire sauce; stir into skillet.
  6. Cook and stir until thickened and bubbly; reduce heat.
  7. Add mushrooms.
  8. Simmer meat in gravy, covered, for 1 to 1 1/4 hours or until tender.
  9. Remove meat to warm serving platter.
  10. Serve gravy along side of meat, also good on potatoes.
