Caramel Apple Coffee Cake

  • Coffee cake:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup caramel topping
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups peeled chopped apples
  • Crumb topping:
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2/3 cup flour
  • 6 Tablespoons softened butter
  • Caramel topping for drizzling
Methods/steps
  1. In a medium bowl,combine 2 cups four, and baking powder. Set aside.
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, cream butter and brown sugar.
  3. Blend in sur cream, caramel topping and milk and mix until smooth.
  4. Stir in egg and vanilla.
  5. Add dry ingredients and mix just until blended.
  6. Fold in apples.
  7. Spoon batter into a 10 inch springform pan.
  8. For the topping, combine 1 cup brown sugar and 2/3 cup flour in a bowl.
  9. Cut in 6 Tablespoons butter until mixture is crumbly.
  10. Sprinkle crumb topping over batter.
  11. Bake at 350 degrees for 50-60 minutes or until center is set and top is golden brown.
  12. Remove from oven and cool.
  13. Drizzle with caramel topping before serving.
