  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup butter
  • soda crackers (35-40)
  • 12 ounce package semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped walnuts 
  1. Bring to a boil, 1 cup brown sugar and 1 cup butter.  Boil for 3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  2. Line a cookie sheet with foil (necessary).
  3. Spread soda crackers in a single layer.
  4. Pour boiled brown sugar-butter mixture over carackers.
  5. Bake 5 minutes in a 400 degrees oven. (You\\\\\\\'ll know they have baked it long enough when the brown sugar-butter mixture is bubbly).
  6. Remove from oven and sprinkle 12 ounces of chocolate chips on top.  Let them melt just a little and spread out evenly.
  7. Sprinkle 1/2 cup finely chopped nuts on top.
  8. Cut between crackers before they cool.
  9. Break apart when cool.
  10. Store in covered container in refridgerator (if there are any left). 
Additional Tips
In a pinch you can use ritz crackers.  We did one time when we were out of saltines and they turned out fine.
