Red & White (Strawberry) Dessert

Description A very good strawberry dessert.  But can be made to whatever flavor you like.  Also good as raspberry, peach, blueberry & cherry!

Bread Pudding / Cobblers
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup walnuts, chopped
  • 1 8 ounce container cool whip
  • 1 8 ounce package cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 large box frozen strawberries or raspberries
  • fresh strawberries or raspberries
  • 1 package Danish dessert ( strawberry or raspberry)
  • 1-1/2 cups liquid (including drained juice) 
  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. There will be three layers, crust, filling, and topping.
  3. First mix and cook the Danish dessert so it has a chance to cool. Your preference but I use the 1 1/2 cups water ( plus liquid ) for a thicker base. And I microwave it.
  4. Then I do the crust:
  5. Mix brown sugar, flour and butter with pastry blender until crumbly.
  6. Add walnuts.
  7. Put in 9x13 pan and bake for 15 minutes, or until light brown.
  8. Remove from oven and with a fork, crumble the crust.  Cool slightly.
  9. Second layer: White layer: Mix cream cheese and powdered sugar, fold in cool whip.
  10. Spread over crust and refridgerate.
  11. Third layer: Red layer: Drain frozen berries.  Add frozen and/or fresh berries to cooled Danish dessert. Pour/spread over white layer.
  12. Refrigerate.
Additional Tips
We like lots of berries, so we also add fresh berries.  Instead of the Danish dessert, you can also use pie filling.  Strawberry Danish dessert is very good. I also have used raspberry Danish dessert, for a little more tang.
